Traditional Stone Finish
A stone finish roof is the traditional method for flat roofing, usually with a green mineral edging. The stones have a dual ability by stopping damage from both the winter frosts / ice and from the summer sun as such we generally recommend this finish over other types. The methodology is such that we initially roll out underlay felt with hot bitumen (tar) spread evenly underneath thus creating a waterproof seal. Another layer is then rolled from the opposite side of the roof so that weak spots are eliminated. The flashing and edging of green mineral felt is last to go on, followed by a cold tar which is spread out as a final water proof barrier that holds the white chippings in place. The photos show the roofs original state when we started right through the above processes until completion.
Solar Paint Finish
This roof has a solar paint finish which gives a metallic looking final coat which reflects the sun and protects from frost. The roofs is complete is exactly the same way as the above stone finish roof, the only difference is this final layer i.e. the solar paint rather than stones. This roof was a timber framed garage and the addition of the stones weight would have compromised the integrity of the flat roof. This is a good example of how we can save clients’ money with the use of modern materials, as with this method the timber didn’t need to be replaced.
Super Seal Finish
This flat roof is an old roof with a protective layer added to give an even longer lifespan. It is recommended that this super seal layer is added to your roof as it reaches its final years to stretch out its integrity. This layer cannot be added to roofs that have perished or are already leaking.
Liquid Rubber Finish
Liquid rubber coatings for uneven surfaces and situations where epdm rubber will not be suitable, it’s a 3 coat system and each coat cures in 15 minutes so its a fast and effective roofing solution applied direct to the decking.
Box Profile metal Sheeting
Box profile metal sheet roofing, this roof was asbestos and a falling tree caused severe damage to this garage roof. We had the asbestos removed and replaced it with plastic coated box profile sheeting . The sheets come in a wide range of colours and come with a 20 year guarantee.
